Light on a Path, Follow | Elliot Montague | 15 min
Joaquín, a transman living in rural 1990s New England, is eight months pregnant. After encountering a mysterious spirit in the forest, Joaquín goes into labor early. Is this spirit haunting or guiding Joaquín as he awaits his midwife? The story for Light on a Path, Follow originates from the director’s own desire for parenthood and the experience of pregnancy as a transmasculine person. This film explores nonbinary pregnancy through centering queer and trans of color birthwork in connecting to (tr)ancestral spiritual realms.
